Objective
For my project, my task was to create three unique product names and designs targeting different audiences for a collapsible gable-style box to package sleepwear. This assignment presented challenges, particularly with the handle and roof design, given the nature of the box. The option to use four-color process printing and the option to incorporate a window in the design was provided, adding another layer of complexity to the project.
Research & brainstorm

I began my creative process by brainstorming using a word web, where I listed various terms related to sleep, lounge, and related associations. Additionally, I compiled a list of ideas in my notebook. From there, I chose to focus on three specific concepts: luxury sleepwear tailored for women, loungewear designed for couples, and weighted sleepwear intended for individuals dealing with nighttime anxiety. To further develop these ideas, I created a separate Pinterest board for each concept, to visually explore and refine my ideas.

Inspired by my daughter's nighttime anxiety, I created packaging for weighted sleepwear aimed at anxious children. Weighted sleepwear wouldn’t fit in the box. So I changed the concept to compression sleepwear:  https://hugsleep.com/ I wanted to use an art nouveau celestial style with dreamy and soothing visuals, gentle colors, and tips for sleeping.

My second concept aimed to craft luxurious loungewear tailored for women, emphasizing comfort and sensuality. I envisioned a design that prioritized features desired by women, including pockets, non-scratchy lace, adjustable straps, and a shelf bra for added support. Its luxurious feel and thoughtful design are crafted to make women feel conffdent and comfortable while lounging without pandering to the male gaze. I wanted packaging that exuded female sensuality and was simple and luxurious.

For my Final piece, I aimed to create comfortable, unisex loungewear for couples to wear while relaxing together. It's designed to be oversized and cozy, perfect for casual hangouts without being overly sexy.

Sketches & Doodles
These are my sketches and doodles. For my luxury sleepwear product, I aimed for sophistication and comfort, while couples loungewear prioritized comfort and relaxation. Weighted sleepwear sketches incorporated calming Art Nouveau motifs of clouds and stars. These sketches helped bring my ideas to life, providing a starting point for further iterations.

Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong box and had to return it before ordering the right one. But I didn't want to wait around, so I found a gable box die line online and printed it out to start my designs. I began sketching preliminary ideas. These thumbnails guide me in placing design elements on the box, letting me experiment with layout and sizing. Despite their small size thumbnails are still helpful.

I decided to focus on developing ideas for two types of sleepwear: Midnight Muse, representing luxury sleepwear, and Lala's, representing compression sleepwear. The switch to compression sleepwear was prompted by the realization that a weighted blanket wouldn't fit in the box I had.
In my intermediate drawings, I made corrections by moving the "Muse" branding to the front panel instead of wrapping it around. Upon receiving my box, I realized there was more space than anticipated. Although things seemed cramped initially, I'm confident the designs will fit comfortably once at full size.

I thought I took a photo before assembling the dummy, but I guess I didn't. :(
I even did the marker indications.

Color Studies:
When expanding the line, I'll utilize the pink box for a light pink compression cocoon and the green box for a sage green one.
Final Clean Design:

I'm thrilled with my final design. I particularly love the tranquil packaging and layout. I think I managed a good circus layout.
