For this assignment, I practiced painting rough and soft edges. I painted a teddy bear and background on an 11 x 14-inch canvas panel, using a reference picture supplied by my instructor. I focused on using the correct values to create the illusion of depth on the canvas, carefully studying the reference material to evaluate the values of the colors. I made sure to use colors that closely resembled the reference photo.
This project was a fantastic opportunity for me to practice and develop my skills in identifying and painting variations in colors. Specifically, I enjoyed focusing on the different shades of white and cream in this assignment, which really forced me to pay close attention to subtle differences in hue and value.
