Assignment: Create a travel guide in the form of an interactive PDF with elements like hyperlinks, buttons, video, audio, and animation. The finished design needed to have at least 5 well-designed pages, showcasing a cohesive layout with a foundational grid and visual hierarchy to illustrate design principles and elements effectively.
I began by researching the park through the national parks website to set the design's direction. Using images from Unsplash and Pixbay, I created a Western-inspired and outdoorsy design. In InDesign, I used filler text while setting up paragraph styles and then added copy once I liked the design. I added a user-friendly navigation bar and included animations, music a video, and a map of the two visitor centers. While I'm content with the outcome, there were a few more things I wanted to include, such as a logo for the park and enhancing the "explore" page with detailed information on the different plants and animals. Overall, I'm proud of the design, which effectively highlights the allure of Saguaro National Park as a top travel destination. I may need to take a trip there myself.
