Research and Brainstorm
Sketches And Doodles
I brainstormed three ideas The first was a vintage Sign walk in Sugarhouse or a Vintage apartment building walk downtown. My next idea was called Ghost in the Graveyard where patrons would visit a historical graveyard and interact with actors portraying the ghosts and learn about the historical figures. My last idea was a Film Noir Film Festival at the Tower Theater or the Broadway Theater. I chose to pursue the vintage sign walk to raise money to preserve and restore the signs in Sugarhouse. I researched different signs and current stores and businesses in the area as well as the mid-century modern style of signs. I also brainstormed ideas for the things that could be sold to raise money.
Thumbnails
I designed several thumbnails pulling inspiration from midcentury graphics and vintage signs. I like the idea of using the Sugarhouse sign because it's one of my favorites. The next challenge was how to have five pictures.  I thought about using icons for each activity.
Intermediate Hand
These are the two that I decided to develop further.
tight hand
I chose to move forward with the second design. I also made the decision to use photos instead of icons for the five items. In the in-class critique, we discussed adding a paragraph to explain the event better as well as making the logo bigger. The assignment needed to include a border so I will need to figure out a border that compliments my design. I researched midcentury modern borders
Computer Progressions
These are my computer designs. I included a border and made the logo bigger. I created a paragraph to explain the event. I found pictures to use and edited them.
